Skirvin Hilton Hotel
PROFILE: As a life-long resident of Oklahoma City, Chuck is a wealth of information for visitors. Chuck has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 6 years and has been the Bell Captain at the Skirvin Hilton since the property opened in February 2007. His favorite part of the job is meeting the business and leisure travelers staying at the Skirvin and going that "extra mile" to make guests comfortable and feel welcome in Oklahoma City. In his spare time, Chuck is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting and fishing across the state.
FAVORITE RESTAURANTS: "I have so many favorites it is hard to suggest just one. First and
foremost I recommend the Park Avenue Grill in the hotel. The Grill reflects the traditions of the Historic Skirvin Hilton, with a friendly Oklahoma City style. Our historic upscale grill features traditional Steak and Seafood cuisines set in the original 1930's setting.
When guest want to taste the local flavor of Oklahoma City, I recommend several of my favorites in the downtown area. For great steaks, I suggest Mickey Mantles Steakhouse featuring memorabilia from the Mantle family personal collection and superior service. For a taste of the Southwest, I suggest Abuelo’s Mexican Food Embassy. The restaurant is a favorite for casual dining with a great atmosphere. For Italian food, I recommend Zio's. They feature great Italian dishes, and guests can enjoy the sights and sounds of Bricktown while dining on their patio."
MUST SEE: "A "must see" while you are in town is the Oklahoma City National Memorial. I suggest people plan to visit the outdoor Symbolic Memorial before touring the museum. This provides them the opportunity to see the Memorial in the daylight. Then on to the museum, which tells the story of the events leading up to the tragedy of April 19, 1995 and the aftermath of the bombing. The tour usually takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete. After a tour of the Museum, I encourage them to see and enjoy the beauty of the Symbolic Memorial after dark. It is an eye opening experience and well worth your time."
