Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition

The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum hosts some of the most prestigious artists in the western art world at the museum's annual Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition and Sale June 8-9, 2001. Approximately 275 works by more than 80 artists are featured and will be on exhibit in the museum through September 9, 2001.

Buyers attend from across the nation to purchase works by a premiere selection of contemporary western artists. Unsold works are available for purchase through the end of the show. Each year's Prix de West event features art history seminars and art demonstrations administered by highly acclaimed art experts.

This year's exhibit will offer numerous works by artists such as previous Prix de West
winners, William Acheff, Gerald Balciar, Scott Christensen, Wilson Hurley, James Reynolds, Richard V. Greeves, Howard Terpning, and Kent Ullberg. New to the exhibition this year will be the works of Pino Dangelico, Luke Frazier, Robert Griffing, David Mann, and Tim Shinabarger.

Each year special awards are bestowed on exhibiting artists. The coveted Prix de West Award is selected for purchase by the museum for its permanent collection. The winner of this award along with the winners of the prestigious Frederic Remington Award, the Robert Lougheed Memorial Award, the James Earle Fraser Sculpture Award, the Nona Jean Hulsey Buyers' Choice Award, and this year's new award, the Major General and Mrs. Don D. Pittman Wildlife Art Award, will be on exhibit.
